17. The verb TO BE in Ukrainian

1. Watch the video of the verb "to be" in Ukrainian.

2. Read sentences. Pay attention to the verb "to be".

Past tense
він був, вона була, воно було, вони були.
Він був удома. - He was at home.
Де вона була? - Where was she?
Студенти були в кімнаті позавчора. - Students were in the room day before yesterday.
Вчора було тепло. - It was warm yesterday.

Present tense
(Є) - omitted in the Present Tense)
Він (є) вдома. - He is at home (now).
Де вона (є)? - Where is she?
Студенти (є) в кімнаті. - Students are in the room.
Сьогодні (є) тепло. - It is warm today.

Future tense
я буду, ти будеш, він/вона буде, ми будемо, ви будете, вони будуть
Він буде вдома завтра. - He will be at home tomorrow.
Де вона буде? - Where will she be?
Завтра студенти будуть в кімнаті. - Students will be in the room tomorrow.
Завтра буде тепло. - Tomorrow will be warm.

3. Put the verb “бути” into the Past tense, the person is indicated in brackets where necessary.

1. Я (Соломія) (бути) на роботі.
2. Я (Тарас) (бути) в парку.
3. Де ти, Оксано, (бути)?
4. Де ти, Тарасе, (бути)?
5. Ми (бути) в парку.
6. Чи ви (бути) в кафе?
7. Вони не (бути) в центрі.

4. Put the verb “бути” into the Future tense.

1. Де ти (бути) завтра після обіду? Завтра після обіду я буду на роботі.
2. Чи він (бути) завтра вдома?
3. Чи вони (бути) в них у гостях?
4. Завтра ми (бути) в парку.
5. Чи ви (бути) завтра на конференції?
6. Вони (бути) у кафе завтра.
